BODY CONTOURING

TUMMY TUCK, BOSTON, MA, AREA,
ABDOMINOPLASTY

You do all the right things: maintain a healthy weight, eat well, and exercise regularly. However, that tummy bulge or loose, sagging abdominal skin still prevents you from looking and feeling your best. Board-certified plastic surgeon Stephen Pap, MD offers Boston, MA residents tummy tucks to improve body contour by firming and flattening the midsection.

Improvements from Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, flattens the abdomen by removing excess fat and stretched skin, and repairing separated abdominal muscles if necessary. Dr. Pap's Boston area tummy tuck patients have diverse reasons for choosing the procedure, but most do so to accomplish one or more of the following improvements:
  • Tighten and reduce loose skin caused by pregnancy or weight loss
  • Flatten a belly that protrudes due to excess abdominal fat or separated muscles
  • Remove or minimize stretch marks from pregnancy or weight fluctuations

Dr. Pap appreciates that his patients are unique, so he creates an individualized approach to meeting their goals. In your initial consultation, you will discuss your areas of concern, and Dr. Pap will thoroughly explain your alternatives and help you establish a realistic goal. In some cases he will recommend using liposuction in addition to or instead of an abdominoplasty to achieve optimal results.

What to Expect

Dr. Pap typically performs abdominoplasty as an outpatient procedure in a hospital setting. He prefers to use general anesthesia so you remain asleep throughout the procedure. After a tummy tuck, you can expect to return to light activities within 2 to 6 weeks. You will need to wait at least 6 weeks before resuming your normal routine, including exercise. Following abdominoplasty, if you maintain a healthy lifestyle, you can expect to enjoy your new shape for many years.
